'the (also known as CORONATION DAY) is a Super Mario World romhack initially released on January 5th, 2016 on SMW Central, made popular for its cryptic and rather straightforward horror.

On August 24th, 2025, the romhack received an update, expanding on its story and turning it from straightforward horror into a rather surreal experience, warranting extended documentation as players dived into a proper secret-filled hack. On the same day, a forum was created on the website for users to share their findings.

Two days after, on August 26th, 2025, a Discord server and a Google Doc was created to compile the findings of the romhack.
It lasted less than a month, when one of the last secrets was accidentally found by someone running corrupted Snes9x save files through a shitty browser emulator sometime September, leaving that document in utter disarray as those who stayed behind realized they found the solution before the puzzle.

Though I was aware of the update, I never got to play it until sometime December when I remembered the utterly magical feeling a video on twitter gave me showcasing that cliff in 'the mirror. I followed the forum to the best of my ability until information unceremoniously cut off upon creation of the Discord server, in which I checked the document to find it in a state of disarray. "We have completed 'the." a user said on SMW Central said, as the document in an utterly barebones state lists a handful of steps to something major, and [REDACTED], the final in-game reward you could access at any time as long as you knew how to activate it.

Thinking "This can't be the end!", I joined the Discord on December 17th, 2025. There, I was made aware that the end was indeed reached, but nobody bothered to maintain the Google Doc and keep it up to date. I was offered to ORGANIZE it, and I admittedly went overboard by OVERHAULING it over the course of a month. I rewrote about 80% of the pre-existing content, as well as 100% of all the missing content.

This section in my NeoCities page is an archive of the contents of that Google Doc, optimized beyond the limitations of a mere Google Doc, to give it the presentation I believe it should have, paired with a game of it's quality. This will be, however, a forever work in progress as I learn more about HTML. Only I can declare when it's complete, and some sense of duty will compel me to finish it.
